To wrap up our first ever season we did what we do best and decided to go LIVE at NCONSCENE'S Ugly Christmas Sweater Pop Up! We met some new up and coming entrepreneurs, kicked it with some of our frequent collaborators, and wrapped it up with the team on everything we got done in 2020.
EP 10: The QUEENS OF THE NCONSCENE CHRISTMAS POP-UP:
It was definitely another movie as we set up at our second pop up on 12/19/20. Linking up again with Paige, the brain behind marketing organization NCONSCENE, we knew it was going to be a good time. This time we set up in the NoDa Neighborhood in Charlotte, best known for its art and music scene. We had two hallways this time, a turn up only room with a DJ and returning vendors as well as a more intimate setting with new vendors. This time we featured QUEENS ONLY. These amazing women worked in make up, fashion, accessories and more.
We talked to Eleishia, Owner of Design by Eleishia, LLC; who stood out with her African inspired clothing and schooled us on how collaboration allowed her to step up her production. The Afrocentric clothing definitely caught Gi's attention noting their amazing decor from the table right next to ours.
Followed by her, we talked to the fabulous Cris, owner of Lush Winks. Cris let us know she is a proud new mom, and is looking to take it to the next level this year! Gi noted its important to take time for you before getting back out there like Cris did.
As the night went on, we had the opportunity to speak to Elana, the mind behind BARE BEAUTY. We had a great time chatting with her and how she moved from Seattle all the way to Charlotte. A 8 year professional MUA, she is proud to specialize in natural looking styles, or soft glam. Oh and by the way, she's pretty fluent en Español, ya'll!
After seeing so many unique vendors, we spoke to fashion designer, De'Asia. She is the driving force behind DLUXE FASHION, which focuses on a combination of chic and comfy, a necessity in everyones closet. As Gi put it so eloquently, "this ain't no middle of the mall stuff, y'all."
Lastly, we spoke to Nelly P, a multi-faceted influencer, author, and motivational speaker. She shared nothing but good vibrations with us as she touched on the importance of checking with the Lord above, the hardships of being young & Black, and just having a good time!

EP 11: EVENT RECAP
For Episode 11, the TBV crew got together to reminisce on our time at the pop up shop but everything we accomplished in 2020. Now becoming show regulars producers Taaj and Manny joined Gi to rap about everything this project has accomplished and what is to come within the community they have built.

Getting real with "The Guys"
In a special interview on MLK Day, Gi sits down with Eric, Al, and Trey. The "Guys" as the staff has dubbed them, are special to the TBV family as they have been our biggest supporters as well as some of the hardest working entrepreneurs in the south east!
CHECKED IN
Eric took us back to his upbringing in rural NC to now owning his lifestyle/fitness brand, CheckedIn. We had a great time listening to how organically his brand grew when all he was trying to do was showcase and share workouts with his friends. From just holding his workout partners accountable, to now a viral brand, Eric exuded nothing but humility when speaking about his exponential growth. "I started going to the gym because of you man...it's that intangible feeling of being 'checked in' that really had me going." stated Gi when reflecting back on the impact Eric and his brand has had on her.
